Back at her place, Sierra wasn’t worried about Jonathan at all. She simply told him to go carly and comic back quickly.
The Wynn family estate wasn’t a place just anyone could visit–least of all Victor.
So Jonathan went straight down the mountain.
Victor’s car was already waiting at the base, with Maddox accompanying him.
When Jonathan appeared, Maddox gave him a nod and went off to wait elsewhere.
He had no idea what had gotten into Victor. The man had suddenly insisted on seeing Jonathan- immediately, without any delay.
After spending a few days with Victor, Maddox had come to understand what kind of person he was: unreasonable, willful, and stubborn to the core. No explanation ever got through to him.
So Maddox hadn’t wasted his breath. He simply drove him to the Wynn family’s ancestral home. Whether Jonathan agreed to meet or not wasn’t his problem.
What he hadn’t expected was for Jonathan to actually come down.
What Maddox didn’t know was that their timing had been surprisingly lucky. Jonathan happened to be in a decent mood these past couple of days. And while Victor hadn’t caused any direct disturbance, his mere presence was an–irritant.
Jonathan just wanted to get rid of him as soon as possible.
But the moment he laid eyes on Victor, Jonathan sensed something was off.
The look in Victor’s eyes was strange–like he was examining him, with a mix of intensity, excitement, and joy…
Jonathan narrowed his eyes. What kind of crazy episode is this lunatic having now?
Before he could ask, Victor spoke up on his own:
“I know the secret you’ve all been hiding. Susie is Nancy. They lied to me for over thirty years. And you’re not Chase’s son. You’re my son.”
Jonathan’s expression instantly grew complex.
Maddox hadn’t gone far, and with Victor practically shouting, he heard every word loud and clear.
His eyes nearly popped out of his head. Jonathan was Victor’s son? What kind of nonsense was this?
Jonathan was exasperated. Had this man lost his mind from yearning for a son?
Chase and Susie had hidden the truth about his identity to protect him, afraid Victor might harm him if he ever found out. Who could’ve guessed this guy would twist things this way?

He had a completely local face, and Victor was clearly mixed–race. There wasn’t a single hint of mixed blood in him–how the hell did Victor convince himself he was his son?
Jonathan had a sharp tongue on a normal day, and now he couldn’t resist saying:
“Mr. Victor, if you’re missing your sons, you can go visit White or give your boys a call. Around here, we don’t just go around claiming sons at random.”

As cutting as Jonathan’s words were, Victor didn’t get angry.
Instead, he looked at him with elation. “No, you are my son.”
“You probably don’t know this, but your mother isn’t Wendy. She’s Nancy–also known as Susie. Back then, I was with Susie. She got pregnant with my child, but I had to return to my country for urgent business before you were born. By the time I came back, I was told she had died–and that you had died with her. I believed it. I was devastated. I went home alone, heartbroken. But it was all a lie. They lied to me. Lied to me!”
Victor roared like a wounded lion..
To be fair, Victor wasn’t completely without merit. In just a few short days, he had managed to piece together bits of information and come to this conclusion.
If he had come in a calm state, Jonathan might have been willing to talk to him,
But looking at him now–acting like a madman–Jonathan couldn’t even be bothered.
He left him with just one sentence: “If your brain’s broken, go get it checked.”
And with that, he turned and walked away.
Victor tried to follow, but the guards stopped him.
He lost all of his usual composure, screaming at them to get out of his way, but no one listened.
They only followed Jonathan’s orders.
After Victor had vented enough, Maddox finally walked over.
“Mr. Victor, this place isn’t somewhere you can just walk into. Let’s head back.”
Even someone more powerful than Victor wouldn’t be allowed in if the Wynn family didn’t want it.
This estate was unique–unlike any other in the country. It was privately owned, not under the jurisdiction of the state. It was a special privilege, a gesture of highest honor, in recognition of everything the Wynn family had done for the nation.
