Chapter 23
Jason stood in the courtyard, blood dripping from his knuckles and pooling on the ground. Even so, he felt no pain.
His gaze remained fixed on the direction Maya had gone, his chest churning with unprecedented violence and regret.
“Mr. Reid!” Benjamin hurried over, holding an envelope. His expression was grave. “I found something.”
Jason slowly turned his attention back, his voice ice cold. “What is it?”
Benjamin hesitated, then handed over the large envelope. “This is… everything Ms. Page has done to Mrs. Reid over the years.”
Jason snatched the envelope and tore it open roughly. Inside were stacks of photos, surveillance screenshots, and audio files. He flipped through a few, and his pupils contracted sharply.
In one photo, Sophia stood at the top of the stairs, deliberately spilling water on the steps when no one was around. In the surveillance video, she secretly replaced Maya’s inedicine with laxatives when Maya wasn’t looking. There was also an audio recording.
“That idiot. I just act helpless, and Jason falls for it every time. She deserves whatever I throw at her…”
Jason’s grip tightened, crumpling the pipers in his grip. His breathing, pr

Jason’s temples throbbed, his mind buzzing as it something had just collapsed

his head.
He remembered that day. Maya had been locked in the basement all night. When she came out the next morning, her face was deathly pale, and her whole body trembled.
He had thought she was being dramatic, even sneering sarcastically,
She had said, “Sophia put rats in here…”
But he hadn’t believed her at all.
one night in confinement, and you cried the whole time?”
Jason’s chest heaved violently as unprecedented rage Consum his entire being. He violently threw everything to the ground, his voice raw and dangerous. “Where is Sophila now?”
Benjamin took a step back, frightened by the ruthlessness in his eyes. “At… At the Reid residence…”
Jason turned and strode away, walking in brisk steps. He took out his phone and called the head of security, his voice cold as ice. “Lock Sophia in the basement. Now!”
The voice on the other end hesitated. “Mr. Reid, this-
“Are you deaf?” Jason’s voice was menacingly dark. “Lock her up and ‘take care of her. I want her to experience everything she did to Maya a thousand times over!”
At the Reid residence, Sophia sat leisurely on the couch, painting her nails while hunting a tune. She’d just received word that Jason had gone to Southcrest to find Maya. Though it annoyed her, she was certain Maya was too stubborn to forgive him easily.
As long as she added fuel to the fire, Jason would eventually grow completely disgusted with that woman. Just as she was plotting, the mansion’s front door was suddenly kicked open.
Sophia jumped, looking up to see Jason striding in with a terrifyingly dark expression. Her heart tightened, but she quickly put on a pitiful look. “Jason, why are you”
Before she could finish, Jason grabbed her throat and slammed her against the wall!
“Sophia” His voice was low and menacing. “You’re quite the schemer, aren’t you?”
Sophia struggled to breathe, her face flushing red as she desperately clawed at his arm. “Jason… what are you doing… let me go…”
Jason sneered and suddenly released his grip. Sophia collapsed to the floor, clutching her throat and coughing violently, tears and snot covering her face. “Take her away.” Jason looked at her as if she were garbage., “Lock her in the basement.”
The bodyguards immediately stepped forward, grabbing Sophia and dragging her toward the basement.
Only then did she panic, struggling and screaming, “Jason! Have you lost your mind? How dare you do this to me? Have you forgotten who stuck by you all these years? Have you forgotten that Maya doesn’t love you?”
Jason’s expression grew even colder. He slowly crouched down and grabbed her chin, his grip so tight it nearly crushed her bones.
“Sophia, listen carefully, Starting from today, I’m going to make your life a living hell.”
With that, be violently released her and ordered the bodyguards coldly, “Put a bag of rats in there. Let her enjoy herself.”
Sophia’s face went deathly pale. “No. No! Jason! You can’t do this to me! Ahh!”
Her screams were cut off as the heavy iron door slammed shut. Jason stood outside the basement entrance, his face like a thundercloud.

He’d spoiled Sophia for years. And now, that devotion had turned to pure hatred. But most of all, he hated himself.
