Charlie stared at her in disbelief. His voice shook as he said, “No. We can still get re-married! Yasmine, you’re worried about Zara and the twins, right?

“I sent them all overseas. They’ll never come back. No one will ever ruin our relationship again!”

Yasmine frowned and cut him off coldly. “Charlie, why are you still lying to yourself? Did you really think

that you had nothing to do with all this? If you loved me, you would never have mistaken Zara for me and

slept with her. You wouldn’t have let her give birth to those kids!

“You just used my injury as an excuse to betray our marriage.”

Charlie froze.

He never expected her to know about his deepest, darkest secret. It turned out that she knew everything.

Yasmine glanced at him and added, “Besides, since the moment I lost my baby, there was no chance of

us ever getting back together. I’ve had enough of you lying to me, and I’ve had enough of the twins

treating me like a joke. I’ve had enough of acting.”

Her gaze looked completely emotionless, but it pierced through Charlie’s heart like a sharp blade.

His gaze quivered as he looked at her. “Yasmine, I had no idea that you were pregnant. You should have told me! If I had known, then none of this would have happened.”

“So it’s my fault?” Yasmine asked, staring at him. She suddenly laughed and said, “So I deserve everything

that happened?”

Charlie’s breathing grew labored. He laughed bitterly and suddenly changed the topic. “Did our past mean nothing to you? Yasmine, did you forget it all? You were even willing to die for me when we got married!”

He continued, seemingly not waiting for Yasmine to speak. “When we were trapped in a sandstorm in the desert, you were the one who carried me on your back for three days and three nights to bring me to

safety.

“When I made a mistake at work and Grandpa punished me with 99 lashes of the whip, you took the punishment with me. Yasmine, you used to love me so much,” Charlie said, trailing off with sorrow in his eyes. “Did you forget all of that?”

Yasmine tried her best to smile, but the tears streaking down her cheeks were catching the light.

“Yes. I loved you,” Yasmine said, seeing his gaze start to light up.

“But that meant nothing. I never used the fact that I saved your life against the Listford family. I loved you, so I was willing to give up my life for you.”

As she spoke, she saw the light in his eyes start to dim. “When Josephine humiliated me, you didn’t speak up for me. You were completely sober that night, weren’t you? You thought I was infertile, and you thought

I was no longer a good match for you.”

Charlie suddenly spoke. “Yasmine, I know you’re angry. Would it help if I died for you?”

He stared at her with a dark, unreadable gaze.

He pulled out a dagger from his pocket and unsheathed it. It gleaned in the light.

Yasmine stared at him, shocked.

“Stab me so I get to feel your pain. Whether you see it as a punishment or as revenge, I’ll be happy for you to just look at me again.”

“Charlie, have you gone insane?” she exclaimed.

“I just want you to be with me again!” he said.

Charlie suddenly grew agitated and grabbed her hand, pulling the tip of his blade towards his stomach.

Yasmine tried to pry his fingers away, but he was too strong. She could see blood beginning to bloom around the tip of the blade.

She glared at him as her chest rose and fell with each deep breath.

“Charlie,” she said through gritted teeth. “Did you think I’d be too afraid to do it?”

“You’re the bravest, Yasmine,” he said with a gentle but stubborn smile. “You could do anything and I wouldn’t complain.”

She snatched the dagger from him and raised it high over his head. She stared into his piercing eyes and swung the dagger.

A loud piercing noise echoed through the studio as she pulled the dagger out, thrust it back in, and repeated the process.

Yasmine continuously thrusted the dagger in and out like a crazy woman. Her eyes were bloodshot, and she was trembling.

However, there was no blood anywhere.

After all, she had only been stabbing the wall behind Charlie.

She slapped him loudly, clawing her nails down his face and leaving glaring red scars.

“You may want to die, but I don’t want blood on my hands.”

Charlie stared at her for a moment before tears began to fall from his eyes. “I’m sorry, Yasmine.”

When Jasper saw the scene in front of him, his normally aloof gaze became alert as his eyes widened. He immediately shielded Yasmine behind him.

The moment he saw Jasper, Charlie seemed to realize something. His laughter caught in his throat and

turned into sobs.

Yasmine no longer wanted to stick around and watch him acting crazy.

She held Jasper’s hand and left without looking back.

Somewhere she couldn’t see, Charlie coughed and suddenly vomited a mouthful of blood. It splattered against her wedding photos.

It was brighter than the blood that had blossomed from Yasmine’s stomach on the day of their wedding.

A year later, Yasmine found herself at the hospital.

It seemed only natural for her to date Jasper after that.

The only stroke of bad luck was that Teresa was diagnosed with leukaemia.

The three of them traveled everywhere in an attempt to find a suitable bone marrow donor.

A few days prior, the doctor told them that they found a man who was a successful match and was

willing to donate his bone marrow to Teresa.

However, the man refused to reveal his name.

It was spring by the time Teresa had made a full recovery and could finally leave the hospital.

Yasmine received a letter in the mail. Her gaze darkened, and she cracked open the wax seal.

The writing on the page was harsh and slanted. There was only one sentence in the letter.

“Yasmine, my time has come, and I believe this will be the last thing I can do for you.”

The wind chimes by the window tinkled gently, and the faint sound of a toy car creaking could be heard.

Yasmine could almost see the outline of Charlie bent over on the balcony as he fixed the twins’ stroller.

She blinked and realized it was just her imagination.

From then onwards, she would pretend he never existed, as if he was a storm that had already passed.
