There was a faint and unreadable smile lingering on Sebastian’s lips that made Conner distinctly
uncomfortable.
Sebastian glanced at Conner sideways and said, “Sorry, but there’s no old man here.”
He paused before adding, “And you won’t be allowed inside either… I find you disgusting.”
In Norland, Conner was rarely treated this way by anyone, let alone a mere bodyguard.
Instantly, Conner’s expression changed, and he eyed Sebastian with arrogance and disdain. “Get your boss out here. I don’t talk to dogs, especially rude ones.”
Hearing this, Sebastian’s smile deepened, clearly enjoying not being recognized. He might have played with Conner a bit longer if he wasn’t worried about Noelle in the bedroom.
Nonetheless, he didn’t have that kind of patience right now. “Mr. Ashford, I am the owner here.”
Conner’s smugness from earlier faltered as he eyed the man again. The realization that Noelle’s fiancé was this man was something he couldn’t wrap his head around.
Wasn’t she supposed to be marrying an old man, someone who was overweight, smelled of mothballs, and coughing between sentences? How could it be someone taller, fitter, and more athletic than him?
An inexplicable rage exploded within Conner. He absolutely would not allow Noelle’s man to be superior to him in any way.
Sebastian greatly appreciated Conner’s expression. He found this to be far more satisfying than closing a large business deal.
Conner flew into a rage and shouted, “You’re the owner? You want to marry Noelle? How could you possibly marry her? She’s a divorced woman who can’t even have children. Are you insane?”
Sebastian’s eyes sharpened instantly, narrowing slightly without him even realizing. Conner was frightened by that look and instinctively took two steps backward.
Suddenly, Sebastian stepped forward and grabbed Conner by the throat. Rain poured through the narrow gap between their umbrellas, streaming down Sebastian’s arm and soaking his white dress shirt until it clung to the tense muscles beneath. The veins in his forearm stood out as he tightened his grip.
Caught completely off guard, Conner’s breath hitched. No matter how he struggled, he couldn’t break free.
His face flushed red, and he choked out angrily, “Are you out of your mind? Let go of me!”
Sebastian didn’t let go. In fact, he tossed aside the black umbrella that was getting in his way and closed the distance even more. His grip shifted to Conner’s tie, yanking him closer.
His voice was low and threatening as he warned, “If I ever hear you speak about Noelle like that again, I’ll rip your throat apart.”

After that, he shoved Conner forcefully, sending him stumbling several steps back and nearly falling down.
Conner spat to the side and glared at him. “You think you can shut me up? Who the hell do you think you are? Do you have
