The look in Sabrina’s eyes was different from usual. She stared at Conner like she was trying to read his
mind.
Conner noticed something off with Sabrina, so he stopped peeling the apple and looked up at her. “What’s wrong? Did you hurt your hand just now?”
Then, he stood up and peeled the blanket off Sabrina to look for any trace of an injury on her hand. He
didn’t find a single wound.
Conner looked down at Sabrina’s uneasy expression and asked in a concerned tone, “Are you not feeling
well?”
After a short pause, Sabrina threw herself into Conner’s arms. “That’s right. I’m not feeling well. I missed. you the whole night. You took so long to get here.”
Conner chuckled at how adorable Sabrina was being and patted her head. “Be good, now. I was just busy
with work.”
Sabrina burrowed herself deeper into Conner’s embrace and pouted sweetly. “Is work more important
than me?”
Conner looked down and met Sabrina’s gaze. He smiled. “Of course not. You’re my highest priority right
now.”
Sabrina shot back, “Am I your highest priority only because I’m pregnant with your child?”
Conner was stunned for a moment before he quickly denied, “No. You’re important to me with or without
a child.”
Sabrina smiled and leaned her head on Conner’s shoulder. Though soft, her voice sounded oddly threatening. “You’re my husband, now and forever.”
The weather was bright and sunny the next day, a huge contrast to last night’s thunderstorm. The piercing
sunlight woke Noelle up.
Through her narrowed eyes, Noelle saw a small crack in the curtains where the sunlight entered the room.
She groaned. She slept so well last night that her subconscious thought that she was still in the Spencer
residence.
As she stretched, she suddenly remembered that her bedroom in the Spencer residence didn’t face the sun. Such piercing sunlight couldn’t have gotten into her room.
Noelle jolted up from bed and saw the expensive oil painting. Everything that happened last night began
to flood her brain.

Someone knocked on the door. “Ms. Spencer, are you awake? Would you like to have breakfast?”
It was the voice of the housekeeper. Noelle looked around and saw no signs of Sebastian.
There was a set of clean clothes by the bed. It was probably prepared for her
After she put on the clothes, Noelle opened the door. It was a middle–aged woman with a familiar face
The woman was wearing a smile on her face. “Ms. Spencer, my name is Lydia Cross, but please just call me Lydia. I’ve worked here for at least 20 years, so just call me when you need anything”
“Lydia, may I ask where Mr. Cole is?” Noelle asked.
Seeing how reserved Noelle was, Lydia smiled wider.
