now.
She paused, turning to Yasmine. “But maybe stop assuming everyone’s dying to be associated with the
Ashfords. And for the record, it wasn’t my idea to come here to get my stuff.”
She shot a quick look at Conner. He wasn’t about to admit that he had been the one who insisted she
come here in person, but they both knew it.
He averted her gaze, clearly unwilling to push the subject further. “Alright, that’s enough. You guys should
drop it.”
Then, he looked at Noelle and said, “Come with me.”
Sabrina wanted to follow, but she stopped herself. She knew it wasn’t the time to do anything that would
upset Conner. Still, she needed an outlet for her irritation.
Once Noelle had followed Conner upstairs to the study, Sabrina turned to Yasmine, sounding aggrieved. Mom, I’ve been having these awful nightmares lately about Noelle trying to come between me and Caleb.
“Every time I wake up, I get this stabbing pain in my stomach. I was so unsettled, I just… needed to come
back to the house.”
Yasmine had been ready to scold her for leaving the hospital against orders. However, seeing Sabrina looking so wounded softened her. Nothing had brought them closer faster than realizing they shared the
Game enemy.
She patted Sabrina’s shoulder as she reassured her, ‘Don’t you worry I’ll never let a woman like her set foot in this house again, let alone interfere with you and Caleb‘
With Yamsine’s reassurance, Sabrina was visibly relaxed. She knew one thing about Yasmine, and it’s that she had spent her life holding her ground, and anyone who embarrassed her would be on her blacklist
forever.
Noelle had crossed her more than once, so Yasmine wouldn’t accept her to be a part of the Ashfords
again.

A victorious smile spread across Sabrina’s face.
Even if Noelle and Conner still had feelings for each other, now that Yasmine and her had gone at each other like this, Noelle had practically burned all bridges with the Ashford family.
Sabrina thought Noelle was still clinging to her wild fantasies. To her, Noelle was nothing but a clueless
idiot.
Noelle sneezed as she entered the study. She couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was talking about
her behind her back. That familiar discomfort tightened in her chest, making her want to get out of the
Ashford residence as quickly as possible.
Conner shut the study door. Now, it was just the two of them in the enclosed space.
Noelle’s gaze locked on her oil painting. She stepped forward, reaching to take it off the easel, only for
Conner to block her.
She frowned. “I already spoke to the Coles for the Novara Corporation. You can’t even keep your word on
this?”
Her disappointment was immeasurable. Even knowing exactly what kind of man Conner was, he still managed to surprise her with new lows.
He reached for her hand. He wanted to say something, but Noelle dodged just in time. “This is a country
of laws, Conner. If you want the Ashford family’s name dragged through one more public scandal, I won’t stand in your way.”
