Chapter 542

Still, he wanted to hand Marina over himself.

Part of him wanted revenge for Niamh, but another part just wanted to punish

Marina.

“Marina… she lied to me.”

Jonathan muttered to himself.

At first, he hadn’t planned to tell Niamh any of this.

But now, he hoped she would believe he truly had no lingering feelings for Marina.

“Marina wasn’t my first love. She lied to me about that.”

Jonathan’s tone was adamant, as if he needed Niamh to understand..

Niamh could see the hatred behind Jonathan’s words-a love turned bitter.

But she didn’t really understand what he meant.

What did he mean, “Marina wasn’t my first love, she lied to me”? How could someone not know who their own first love was?

The question circled in her mind, but Niamh didn’t ask. Whoever Jonathan’s first love was, it had nothing to do with her anymore.

“Oh.”

Her response was so indifferent, it caught Jonathan off guard.

His grip tightened on his fork and knife.

“Niamh…”

“If Marina hadn’t lied to you, would you really have been able to hand her over to The Vipers’ Nest?” Niamh took a sip of champagne, her tone light and detached.

Jonathan felt as if someone had punched him square in the chest.

“I..”

If Marina had really been Rina, he knew he wouldn’t have been able to do this-he wouldn’t have had the heart.

Niamh could see the conflict and pain written all over Jonathan’s face. She sighed quietly.

“Jonathan, to you, I’m just a backup, someone you call for when it’s convenient, then toss aside. You didn’t love me when you married me, and now you’re chasing after me-not because you really love me, but because you can’t have what you want.”

“That’s not true, Niamh-”

“Isn’t it?”

“…”

“Before Marina’s mask slipped, weren’t you the one threatening to force me to avenge her?”

”

“Just admit it, Jonathan. You never loved me-not from the start.”

“That’s not true!”

With a loud crash, Jonathan slammed his fists onto the table.

In the refined dining room of the Nimbus Summit, the sound was jarringly out of place.

Instantly, all eyes turned toward him-including those at the next table: the Thomases, and the Quinns.

Niamh sat across from Jonathan, calmly eating her meal, completely unfazed by his outburst-a stark contrast to his fury, as if nothing he did could touch her

anymore.

Hayes’s gaze flickered between Niamh and Jonathan, his eyes shadowed with conflicting emotions.

Sprague, noticing Hayes’s interest, jumped in to explain, “Mr. Quinn, don’t

worry-Niamh and Jonathan may still be married on paper, but they’ve been living apart for ages…”

“Yes, yes, they’re separated/ Marigold chimed in anxiously, desperate to smooth things over.

“And honestly, Mr. and Mrs, Quinn, just look at how Jonathan treats her-it’s obvious he doesn’t care about her at all. The only reason they’re not divorced is because Clifford Thomas keeps interfering…”

In moments like this, Marigold could only pin the blame on Clifford Thomas. She certainly couldn’t admit that Jonathan was the one clinging to Niamh.

To this day, Marigold had no idea what Jonathan was thinking. He had the chance to pursue the Quinns’ heiress, but instead he insisted on chasing after Niamh.

“Jonathan’s always had high standards,” Marigold said, shaking her head, her voice cutting as she disparaged Niamh. “He would never settle for someone as plain as her! Just look-she comes to a place like this wearing flats. Honestly…”

While she belittled Niamh, Marigold’s gaze drifted pointedly to Ramona.
