Chapter 110
As a high–level caregiver, she’d worked for many powerful people and knew that big corporations, to protect their interests, always had prenups with assets livided beforehand. Nathan’s wife had no significant background, so there was no way there’d be some massive divorce settlement. So she kept quiet.
Meanwhile, Nathan sat in the back seat of his car.
He pulled out his phone and called Eddie.
“Mr. Harrison.” Eddie picked up immediately.
“I need you to handle something,” Nathan said, giving him specific instructions.
“Yes sir, I’ll prepare the materials right away,” Eddie said.
After hanging up, Nathan sat in silence.
“Mr. Harrison, where to now?” the driver asked.
“Just drive around,” Nathan said.
He didn’t know where to go. His penthouse–he didn’t want to go back there.
The hillside villa–Amelia had moved out, and going back would just show him an empty house without
her.
Moonlight Manor was definitely out–his grandparents didn’t want to see him.
Amelia’s rental place wouldn’t welcome him either.
Nathan looked out at the scenery. The city’s nightscape was the same as it had been for years–beautiful and bustling.
Streams of cars created rivers of light flowing back and forth.
This city was so vast. Everyone said Harrison Corp was the top of New York’s three major powers, and Nathan Harrison stood at the pinnacle of this city.

But right now, Nathan felt homeless.
What was wrong with him?
Nathan leaned back in his seat, exhaustedly rubbing his temples, his mood complicated.
The driver cruised aimlessly through the city.
Nathan just stared blankly out the window.
Outside were endless shops and stores.
Nathan thought for a moment, then told the driver to stop.
He went into a shopping center and saw lots of little girls‘ dresses, plus children’s school supplies, backpacks, and such.
Mila would look pretty in these dresses.
Nathan found himself thinking.
He remembered Mila liked to draw, and she was pretty good at it too.
With proper training, she could probably become an artist someday.
Before he knew it, Nathan had picked out quite a lot.
As Nathan appeared, mall staff swarmed over.
But Nathan just waved them off, telling them not to make a scene.
Finally, he selected some clothes and paid for them to be packaged.
Plus backpacks and art supplies.
He brought everything back to the car.
The driver was confused but didn’t dare ask
“Go to New York Children’s Home,” Nathan said.
The driver immediately started the car.
Nathan looked at the things in his hands, his mood indescribable.

Suddenly, he wanted to see Mila.
Wanted to dress her up nicely, buy her lots of things.
They quickly reached the children’s home. Nathan spoke with the director about relevant matters before being allowed a temporary visit.
And only in a designated area.
After waiting a while, Mila slowly walked over, hugging a big–eared dog plushie.
Seeing it was Nathan, she didn’t say anything, just sat down in a nearby chair.
For a moment, Nathan didn’t know how to start, so they both sat in silence.
After who knows how long, Nathan spoke: “I bought you some things.”
He showed her the little dress.
Mila glanced at it and said: “Thank you, but I don’t need it.”
Nathan wasn’t angry. He set the dress aside and brought out the backpack and art supplies.
“When I saw you at the preschool last time, you were drawing pretty well,” Nathan said, placing the items
on the table.
But Mila just looked at him.
She said: “You can give these to other kids at the children’s home.”
Nathan looked at the little girl in front of him, not knowing what to say.
Mila sighed softly: “My mom will buy me whatever I need. Even if mom’s temporarily busy, Aunt Harper and Uncle Louie will buy things for me. I’m only here because the paperwork isn’t finished yet.”
Mila held up her big eared dog plushie: “Aunt Harper ve me this. I really like it.”
“If you like that, I can buy you all of them,” Nathan said
Mila stopped talking. She just hugged her plushie and poked at Nathan silently.
The adult and child stared at each other.

Finally, Mila spoke.
“Don’t you get it yet?” Mila said. “I only accept things from my mom and mom’s friends. I won’t take anything from other people.”
The little girl in front of him was small and soft, but in this run down children’s home environment, she seemed unusually strong.
Just like her–looked fragile but had a tough personality
“You should go back and stop looking for me,” Mila said quietly.
But Nathan didn’t move, his hands clenched tight under the table.
“You should already know my relationship with Amelia,” Nathan said. “So if you’re calling her mom, you should call me ‘daddy‘ too.”
“There’s nothing wrong with taking my things. This is all stuff I should be giving you.”
“I don’t know if she’s told you about my capabilities, but you’re my daughter. In all of New York, whatever you want, you can have.”
Nathan looked at Mila’s big round eyes staring at him and tried to smile warmly.
He smiled and said: “I can cure your illness, help you achieve your dreams.”
“As long as…”
Nathan paused, feeling an unfamiliar vulnerability.
His eyes reddened slightly as he controlled his emotions and said to Mila: “As long as you call me ‘daddy‘ just once.”
Nathan suppressed his emotions while Mila watched him.
Her little brow furrowed.
They stared at each other,
After about three seconds, Mila finally spoke.

She said: “But are you really?”

Looking at Nathan’s red–rimmed eyes and his hesitant expression.
Mila knew he wanted to ask if Amelia had taught her to say this.
So Mila tugged at her plushie’s big ears and said: “My mom is a very good person. Before you came looking for me, she never mentioned you. You forced her to tell me who you were.”
“But she didn’t want to hurt me or make me worry, so she didn’t say much.”
“I asked Aunt Harper, but she wouldn’t tell me either. had to ask the director to help me look it up
before I learned about your situation.”
“I know there’s someone named Vivian Hope with you right now.”
“If you search your name, it’s not my mom that comes up–it’s that Vivian. Since you like her so much, just be with her.“–
Mila looked at Nathan with clear, bright eyes but spoke words that cut him to the bone: “Stop hurting my
mom.”
