Chapter 14
Harry hadn’t returned home in days, and Lydia’s hatred toward Samantha grew even deeper.
Every day, Lydia had to take care of the troublesome Joseph on her own. Despite all that, Harry never answered a single call.
Lydia couldn’t stand it. She refused to accept being overlooked after finally forcing her way into the family. She had to find a way to make Samantha disappear for good.
Lydia stood at the corner of the design school hallway, glaring at Samantha, who was rushing around in
the studio.
Samantha was adding finishing touches to her entry for the competition. It was a dress that blended traditional stitching and modern tailoring. The exquisite embroidery shimmered softly under the lights.
In two days, the dress would be sent off for evaluation at an international design competition.
Lydia dug her nails hard into her palms. “Why should she…”
She stared at Samantha’s focused profile from the side, malice flashing through her eyes. “Samantha’s just an unwanted woman. Does she even deserve such a good life?”
Since no one was around during lunch break, Lydia sneaked into the studio. She pretended to bump against the workstation while splashing paint onto the dress.
“What are you doing?” Lionel asked coldly from behind.
Lydia quickly turned around and met Lionel’s sharp gaze from behind his glasses. She trembled as she flung the rest of the paint on the dress.
“Oh! I’m sorry! I’ll help you wipe it off.” Lydia hurriedly took out some tissues. She deliberately rubbed the dress hard, causing a few noticeable snags in the delicate embroidery.
Under Lionel’s cool gaze, Lydia became slightly panicked and explained, “It was an accident…”
Lionel sneered before grabbing Lydia’s wrist. He looked up at the surveillance camera at the corner of the
ceiling.
“I’m sure the surveillance footage will prove whether it was really an accident.”
Lydia’s face went deathly pale in that instant.
…
In the design school meeting room, Lydia sat in a chair, still looking pale. The screen in front of her replayed the scenes of her sneaking into the studio, deliberately flinging paint onto the dress, and using her fingernails to snag the embroidery.

“That video’s not real!” Lydia screeched at the top of her lungs. “You guys are in cahoots! Samantha,
you’re framing me, aren’t you?”
The surrounding students began to whisper among themselves.
Samantha stood nearby, staring calmly at the woman who used to torment her. “I never thought you’d go this far. I already left Harry, just as you wanted me to. Why won’t you let me go?”
Upon noticing the crowd’s gazes of contempt, Lydia went deathly pale. She grabbed her bag and dashed
out the door.
Very quickly, Harry got wind of the incident.
Late at night, he sat in the CEO’s office at Wright Corporation. A series of surveillance footage flickered
on the screen in front of him.
Back then, he had installed cameras around Wright Villa to keep an eye on Samantha. At that moment,
each frame was exposing the cruel truth.
The footage showed Lydia pretending to knock over the soup, but it was Samantha who ended up with a
scalded arm.
Lydia also intentionally brought up Joseph’s allergy incident, leading to the Wrights blaming Samantha.
Even when Lydia was crying in distress, a faint smirk played on her lips.
Harry’s fingers trembled slightly. All this while, Lydia had been hiding her true colors so well.
What truly shocked him was learning that Samantha had been doing her part for the family all these years.
During Wright Corporation’s financial crisis three years ago, she secretly sold her family heirlooms to
cover the financial gap.
At that time, Harry had taken Lydia overseas to treat her so-called heart condition.
He slammed his fists on the office desk with a bang, sending the pens rolling onto the floor.
The lights at Wright Villa shone brightly. Upon hearing the door open; Lydia immediately hurried over
tearfully. “Harry, what took you so long to come back? I…”
“From now on, you shall remain in the guest room. You’re not allowed to leave the house,” Harry remarked
coldly as he loosened his tie.
Lydia was rooted to the spot. “What… What do you mean?”
“Must I show you the surveillance footage?” He threw the flash drive and documents on the coffee table.” Or shall we discuss the things you’ve done over the past few years?”
As soon as Lydia saw the documents, her face paled instantly. She suddenly cried out in anguish, “Harry, are you still thinking about that woman? Ever since she left, you never even spared me a glance!”

Despite her heart-wrenching screams, Harry remained unmoved. He looked down at Lydia, a woman he once considered gentle and kindhearted. Suddenly, she seemed more like a stranger to him.
“Security.” He turned and headed for the stairs. “Teach her a lesson and lock her up. Without my
permission, she’s not allowed to leave this house.”
Lydia’s sobs grew louder behind Harry, but he no longer wanted to hear them.
