Chapter 12

Jeremy was already in a bad mood, and seeing Tricia only made it worse. He stubbed out his cigarette

and walked into the hallway.

His assistant came over, looking sheepish. “Mr. Frey, we only managed to track Ms. Shaw to Juville. Beyond that, it’s a dead end, like someone’s deliberately blocking us from digging further.”

“Juville?” Jeremy narrowed his eyes.

Power in Juville was complicated and messy. He was worried someone might’ve lured Lexi there under

false pretenses.

“I remember we have a business deal with Shaw Group over there. When’s the contract being signed?”

The assistant checked his phone. “In three days.”

Jeremy said, “Book me a flight. I’m flying in three days.”

The assistant hesitated. “Mr. Frey, Ms. Lowe is pregnant now. She’s been unhappy with all of us and only

wants you by her side. If you leave, we don’t know how to handle her.”

Jeremy’s expression turned cold. “She’ll live. And check if she’s really pregnant. Go to a different hospital

this time.”

Maybe it was what Lexi said before that finally got through to him, but he wasn’t so sure about Tricia

anymore.

That evening, he returned home and went straight to the study to find the USB drive.

When he was about to open it last time, Tricia showed up, so he never got the chance. Now that he finally had some peace, he was ready to see what Lexi had left him.

But when he plugged it in, the drive was empty. The files had been completely wiped. He tried everything

he could think of, but failed to retrieve them.

He called in the maids to ask who’d touched his computer, but no one admitted anything. There weren’t any cameras in the study, so there was no way to trace what had happened.

Later that night, after everyone had gone to bed, a maid sneaked outside and made a call to Tricia. “Ms. Lowe, the video on the USB has been deleted. You can send over the rest of the payment now.”

In her ward, Tricia sat on her bed watching the video on her own copy of the drive. She smirked.

“The money’s already in your account. Make sure you find a chance to resign on your own. I don’t want to see you at the Frey residence when I get back.”

The maid glanced at the bank notification of the transfer of 10 thousand dollars and smiled with satisfaction. “Don’t worry, Ms. Lowe. I’ll pack up and leave before you’re back.”

After the call ended, Tricia stared at the screen, then hit delete on the video.

Lexi was gone. The video was gone. Jeremy was hers now.

Just then, her attending doctor walked in. “Lexi, I heard Jeremy is planning to transfer you to another hospital. I think he might be starting to suspect something.”

Her doctor was a college senior who had secretly liked her for years.

Tricia wasn’t surprised. Her voice was calm. “It’s fine. Even if I go somewhere else, the pregnancy is real.”

The only problem was, the baby wasn’t Jeremy’s. She had hoped to get pregnant by him, but other than that one time, he never touched her again.

One night at a bar, drunk and reckless, she had called over a random male model and slept with him. She hadn’t expected his genes to be that strong to get her pregnant from that one night. When she found out,

her whole family told her to get rid of it, but she had refused.

This baby had to stay. And for the record, the father wasn’t that cheap male model. It was Jeremy.

“Lexi, Jeremy doesn’t even like you. Why force it with a stunt like this? If you’d let me, I-”

Before he could finish, Tricia cut him off coldly, “I don’t like you either. It’s been years. Maybe it’s time you find someone who actually does.”

She was the kind of person who used others and tossed them aside without a second thought.

The man’s face stiffened. He looked down and said quietly, “I get it. I just hope you find happiness. But let me remind you, lies never last forever.”

Tricia’s expression turned gloomy. “That’s my business. It has nothing to do with you. It’s late. I need to

rest now. You can go.”
