Chapter 13
At Shaw Group in Juville, Lexi had been in meetings all morning and was finally getting a short break for lunch. As soon as she stepped out, she got a message from Henry.
“I’m waiting for you at the bistro downstairs.”
Lately, he had been showing up every day to have lunch with her.
The employees at Shaw Group had noticed it more than once and couldn’t help but envy her for landing a man who clearly adored her.
Henry had his arm around her as they walked into the bistro, the two of them laughing and talking like any happy couple. “I already ordered all your favorites.”
Lexi looked at him helplessly. “You don’t have to come here every day just to eat with me. Garner Group
isn’t even nearby. Going back and forth like this must be such a hassle.”
“If I don’t come, will you eat on time?” Henry’s tone was gentle, but his words left no room for debate. “I
saw your health report and found that you’ve got gastritis. You have to eat on schedule. This is non-
negotiable.”
That caught her off guard. She’d had stomach problems for years, especially during her three years at Frey Group, when things were just getting off the ground. She’d often skip meals or eat late, which took a
toll on her stomach.
But in all those years, Jeremy had never once noticed. To be exact, he had never really paid attention to
her at all.
“Okay. I’ll listen to you,” she said with a soft smile.
Unfortunately, just as they stepped inside, they ran right into Jeremy, who hadn’t expected to bump into her here of all places.
He’d been in Juville for several days already, searching for any trace of her, only to find out now that she’d
been right under his nose the whole time, and she wasn’t alone.
“Lexi, I’ve finally found you! Come home with me!” He stepped toward her, trying to grab her hand.
But Henry reacted instantly, pulling her tightly into his arms as his gaze turned sharp. “Mr. Frey, can’t you tell she doesn’t want to go with you?”
Jeremy might not visit Juville often, but he knew exactly who Henry was. “Mr. Garner, Lexi is my wife. Don’t you think it’s a little inappropriate to have your arms around someone else’s wife?
“Lexi, we had some misunderstandings. Tricia and I aren’t like what you think-”
He was trying to explain everything to her in one go, but Lexi wasn’t having it. “Jeremy, whatever Tricia have going on is none of my business. This isn’t Tenby, so I suggest you watch your words.

‘And let me remind you-I’m not your wife anymore. You signed the divorce papers yourself. I left them right there in the safe. If you aren’t blind, you should’ve seen them.
“So please stop grabbing me in public. Hens is a jealous guy.”
Henry stiffened slightly. She hadn’t called him that since they were kids.
Jeremy’s face turned pale, and he started to tremble, but he forced himself to keep it together. “Lexi, you can’t just erase years of love with a few cold words.”
Then, he turned to Henry and said sharply, “Mr. Garner, I know you have a powerful family in Juville, but I also heard you’re getting married soon. And here you are flaunting your affair in public. Aren’t you worried your fiancée might find out?”
He then turned back to Lexi, ready to strike a moral blow.
“Lexi, I can explain everything with Tricia. I’ve always loved you. I don’t care what you’ve been doing lately.
I’ll let it all go. Just come back to me. I’ll protect you, even if it means going up against Henry.”
If this were the past, those words might’ve moved her to tears. But now, she just felt disgusted.
It was too late. Love that showed up late was worth less than dirt.
“Jeremy, do you think you’re that important?” She sneered. “It looks like I’ve spoiled you for too long that you’ve completely forgotten who you are.
“Let me make this clear. I was the one who started this relationship. And now, I’m the one ending it. You
don’t get a say.
“You were so in love with Tricia, weren’t you? I let you go so that you could be with her, and now what? Do you regret it? Jeremy, you’re pathetic.”
