Chapter 14
Jeremy had been treated like royalty for years, so he wasn’t used to being humiliated like this. His face instantly fell. “Lexi, you’ve gone too far!”
Lexi had expected his mask to fall eventually, just not this soon.
She raised an eyebrow and gave a cold laugh. “Compared to what you all did, I’m not even close.”
A small crowd had started to gather to watch the drama unfold.
Jeremy lowered his gaze and muttered, “Let’s talk at home.”
This time, he tried to grab her. But before he could even touch Lexi, Henry kicked him several feet away.
Henry’s eyes were dark and sharp. “Jeremy, if you want to live, get out of Juville by tonight. If I catch you trying to touch Lexi again, I’ll cut off your hands.”
Before Jeremy could say a word, the bistro manager came rushing over to apologize. “I’m so sorry, Mr.
Garner. It was our oversight for letting these people in. We’ll handle it right away.”
With that, the manager had the staff throw Jeremy out.
With the clown gone, the crowd quickly dispersed. Henry pulled out a chair for Lexi and sat down with
her. “Do you feel bad seeing him get kicked out?” he asked casually.
It sounded like an offhand question, but his eyes never left her face.
She replied, “He’s not worth it. I thought you’d beat the crap out of him instead of just kicking him when
you saw him again.”
He raised an eyebrow and smirked. “You think I went too easy on him? I can have someone drag him
back here and finish the job.”
“Henry, has anyone ever told you how jealous you are?” She set down her utensils and leaned her chin on her hand, looking straight at him.
He smiled faintly and locked eyes with her. “Has anyone told you that a jealous man needs to be fed
properly?”
They were both adults, and she caught his meaning right away. Her ears turned pink.
Due to how badly her last relationship had ended, they hadn’t been physically close at all. Henry was still young and full of energy, but he’d been holding back all this time out of respect for her.
She smiled, leaned in close to his ear, and whispered, “Then, I’ll feed you properly tonight.”
Before today, Henry had been worried Jeremy would show up again. He was afraid Lexi might still have a soft spot for him, that she might look back.

But Jeremy’s appearance today had only brought them closer.

After Jeremy and his assistant were thrown out, they went back to the hotel.
Since they returned, Jeremy hadn’t said a single word. His assistant stood nearby, too scared to breathe.” Mr. Frey… it seems like Ms. Shaw really has changed. Maybe you-”
Before he could finish, Jeremy shot him a chilling glare. “Aren’t the Garner and Shaw families planning a marriage alliance? If he dared to touch my woman, then I won’t hesitate to stab him in the back.
“Reach out to Shaw Group and tell them I want to sign the contract personally with their CEO this
afternoon. There are some things I need to say to her.”
Once Shaw Group was involved, Henry would definitely back off. Then he’d take Lexi away and finally get the chance to explain everything. She’d loved him for so many years that she’d forgive him if he apologized and explained it well enough.
The assistant could see clearly what Jeremy couldn’t. Lexi didn’t love him anymore.
With a long sigh, he turned to contact Shaw Group.
At Shaw Group, an assistant reported, “Ms. Shaw, the president of Frey Group will be coming at 3:00 pm
to sign the contract. He said he wants to do it personally with you and has something to tell you.”
Lexi frowned slightly. Signing contracts was usually handled by someone else. She had several meetings
scheduled this afternoon and didn’t have time for this. “Tell him I’m busy.”
But just after she said that, she suddenly called the assistant back. “Wait. Did you say Frey Group from Tenby? Is it Jeremy Frey who’s coming?”
The assistant was surprised she had guessed so accurately and nodded. “Yes.”
A cold smile tugged at her lips. Her eyes lifted ever so slightly. “Heh. Tell Ms. Gold I have something to take care of this afternoon and reschedule the meeting. Bring Jeremy to my office at 3:00 pm.”
“Yes.”
At 3:00 pm, Lexi stood facing the floor-to-ceiling windows with her back to the door, overlooking the city below. This was the life she should’ve had all along. But she’d been too naive when she was younger and paid the price.
Outside the office, the assistant knocked on the door. “Ms. Shaw, Mr. Frey is here.” “Let him in.”
