Chapter 16

At first, seeing how sincere he looked, Lexi almost believed Jeremy had changed. It wasn’t until now that she finally saw him for what he really was. He was a selfish man who would never change.
“Hah! I drugged you? Clearly, you never watched the USB I gave you. Tricia admitted it herself that she was the one who drugged you. The woman you used to love the most set the whole thing up.”
Jeremy’s eyes widened in shock. He stumbled back a few steps. “T-That’s impossible…”
“If you don’t believe me, go check the security footage at home. It’s all there. But even if you know the truth now, it doesn’t matter. I heard Tricia’s pregnant with your child. Congratulations. I hope you two grow old together.”
Watching the shock and regret all over his face, she actually felt better.
She called for her assistant. “Take Mr. Frey downstairs. And let everyone know that Shaw Group will never do business with Frey Group again.”
The assistant gave the two of them a surprised look before nodding. “Mr. Frey, let me show you out.”
But Jeremy refused to budge. He snapped out of his grief instantly. “Lexi, even if you hate me, you shouldn’t let it affect work. Shaw Group needs Frey Group’s tech. You can’t just cut us off!”
She didn’t even get angry and just laughed coldly. “Tech? What tech does Frey Group even have? Jeremy, do you actually believe the company got this far because of you? Your first project came from Mr. Lloyd,
who watched me grow up. He only gave you that deal for my sake.
“Do you think your office rent is cheap just because you got lucky? I knew you couldn’t afford the full price, so I asked one of my childhood friends to draw up a shady contract. You only paid 30 percent of
the actual rent. I covered the rest.
“And that IPO your company was pushing for? Do you think Frey Group was ever qualified to go public that fast? I personally reached out to those elders, and they only loosened the requirements for your company because of me.
“I used to keep my mouth shut out of respect for your fragile pride. But now I can tell that you never had any self-awareness to begin with.”
His face darkened. It turned out the startup he’d been so proud of only existed because of Lexi. His expression twisted with shame and frustration. “If you did all that for me, why didn’t you tell me?”
She gave a cold laugh. “Why would I? To me, it was just talking to a few elders. It wasn’t a big deal. I’m not the kind of person who needs to brag about it.”
He dropped his gaze.
Tricia and Lexi were nothing alike. Tricia made sure he knew every little thing she ever did for him, so he’d feel grateful. But Lexi did everything quietly, never asking for anything in return.

His lips parted slightly, his eyes welling up with tears. “Lexi. you did so much for me. You loved me so much. Now that all the misunderstandings are cleared up, can’t we just start over? I swear I’ll only love you from now on.”
He stepped forward, reaching out to hug her again, but before he could touch her, she smacked him across the face.
A clear handprint immediately bloomed across his cheek.
She took a step back and said in a cold voice, “Jeremy, if you ever lay a hand on me again, I’ll report you
for sexual harassment. This is Juville. It’s my turf. Messing with me won’t end well for you!”
