Chapter 23

Tricia let out a chilling laugh and stared out at the sea. “I want you and Jeremy to die together.”

Everyone around was stunned. They all thought Tricia had lost her mind.

But Henry didn’t flinch. Instead, he stayed remarkably calm. “I can die. But Jeremy isn’t here, so I can’t

make any promises.”

A chill rushed through Lexi’s body. She knew Henry had feelings for her, but she never imagined he’d be

willing to die for her.

“It’s fine. He’ll be here soon. Look. There he is-right behind you.” Tricia smiled faintly as she pointed

behind them.

Jeremy emerged from the water, dripping wet.

With Henry having the entire city hunting him down, sneaking in by sea was his only option.

But the moment he got ashore, he saw what was happening and rushed over. “Tricia, are you insane? Let

Lexi go!”

His outburst only angered Tricia further. The knife in her hand dug a little deeper.

“Jeremy, you seem confused. I’m the one in control here. If I get even slightly upset and my hand slips,

Lexi’s life is over.”

“What do you want?”

Tricia replied, “Don’t both of you love her? Let’s see who loves her enough to die for her.”

Jeremy’s expression changed in an instant. “Tricia, you’re playing with fire! I know you’re only doing this because you aren’t thinking straight. Let Lexi go, and I’ll protect you.”

Tricia let out an annoyed sigh and scratched her ear. “Lexi, it looks like Jeremy doesn’t love you that

much. He’s not willing to die for you, but Henry is.

“Tsk tsk. He’s head over heels for you, treats you so well, and yet you were blind enough to choose

Jeremy. Too bad. Jeremy won’t die for you, which means you’ll have to die yourself.”

She twisted the knife in her hand, like she was ready to slash Lexi’s throat at any moment.

At the critical moment, Jeremy shouted, “Tricia! You’re still carrying my child! Can you bear to let our child

be born without a father?”

Tricia raised her brows and sneered. “Father? Oh, I forgot to tell you. The kid isn’t yours. It’s from some male model I hooked up with at a bar. He had skills and quality. All it took was just that one time-unlike you. Pathetic.”

That one line exploded like a bomb. Everyone around them suddenly looked at Jeremy differently. It was

the first time anyone had seen a cheating scandal blow up so publicly that the whole room knew he’d

been played.

Jeremy’s eyes burned with fury. He looked like he wanted to kill Tricia on the spot.

Tricia snapped, “Don’t act like you’re some poor, betrayed saint. You’re no saint either. I hate guys like you, wanting a sweet wife at home while chasing excitement on the side. In the end, you end up with nothing. You deserve all this.”

While the two of them argued, Lexi had been quietly trying to find a way to escape. But there was nothing sharp around her, and she had no way to fight back.

Tricia saw right through her attempt to escape and drove the knife a little deeper. “Don’t move! Try anything again, and I’ll kill you right here!”

Lexi clenched her fists and said word by word, “Tricia, I didn’t treat you that badly, did I? If you’ve got a grudge, it should be with Jeremy. What’s the point of dragging me into this?”

Tricia’s eyes softened just a little. “Yeah, you were decent to me. If it weren’t for Jeremy, maybe we really could’ve been friends.

“But we both fell for the same man, and that ruined everything. Jeremy, I’m giving you one last chance. If you’re willing to die for Lexi, I’ll let her go.”

Everyone was waiting for Jeremy’s answer.

Under the weight of all those eyes, he finally said, “If Lexi still loved me, I’d die for her, but she’s in love with Henry now. I’m sorry, Lexi.”

There wasn’t much expression on Lexi’s face. It was like she’d expected it.

Jeremy was the typical selfish man. Why would he ever give up his life for her?

“Lexi, it looks like you didn’t mean much to him after all. In that case, you can go to hell now.”
