Chapter 16
Noelle stared at Sebastian in alarm and bewilderment. She had no idea what was wrong with him, but judging by his face, it wasn’t anything minor.
She quickly opened the door and stepped out. “Don’t worry about sending me home. I can manage, but you have to see a doctor.”
By then, Sebastian’s sharp jawline was already swelling.
“What on earth is happening to him?” Noelle worriedly murmured under her breath.
Soon, a couple of the housekeepers rushed out and helped Sebastian out of the driver’s seat.
As they walked passed, Noelle could tell that Sebastian’s breathing had turned rapid–or to be exact, it
was as if he couldn’t breathe at all.
She followed behind them, anxious to see what was wrong. But even when he was struggling to breathe, he suddenly turned back at her. “I’ll have the driver take you home, Noelle.”
Noelle understood that Sebastian didn’t want her to probe any further. So, she stayed where she was and simply nodded, respecting his privacy. “Alright.”
The Cole residence was in chaos. Housekeepers were rushing up and down the halls while several doctors had gathered outside Sebastian’s bedroom.
Denise looked deeply worried while William’s expression was tight. “You were being reckless. You know
you’re allergic to cinnamon, and still…”
“Enough,” Denise said, cutting in in distress. “What’s done is done. There’s no point in a lecture now.”
She couldn’t help but think of how utterly tone–deaf William was.
The shy Sebastian was finally showing a rare spark of romance in him, and all William could do was
criticize him for it. If anything, Denise felt relieved that at least Sebastian wasn’t one of those clueless,
emotionally stunted bricks.
By then, the flush had drained from Sebastian’s face, and he soon resumed his cool composure.
William frowned and sternly continued, “The doctor said you knew about your cinnamon allergy, so why did you ignore it?”
Since Denise couldn’t stop William, she could only ease the tension. “Please, William. Can’t you tell that Sebastian was trying to be thoughtful? Noelle gave him that perfume.”
William still looked baffled and couldn’t understand why Sebastian would pretend to like something that would trigger his allergic reaction.

Upon noticing the puzzled look on his face, Denise helplessly shook her head. She knew better than to explain. After all, men like him would never understand.
Still a little weak, Sebastian scanned the room and finally seemed relieved when he noticed Noelle wasn’t
around. “Has Noelle gone home?”
“She did. Lucas sent her home, and he’s already on his way back.”
“She didn’t suspect anything, did she?” He frowned.
“Suspect what? That docile young lady stood where you told her to, just waiting for Lucas.”
“Good.” Sebastian nodded. He didn’t want Noelle to know that her perfume had triggered the allergic reaction. She’d just blamed herself for it.
In truth, his body had instantly recognized the danger the moment he saw the bottle of perfume.
He had a severe allergy to cinnamon, and it was a common ingredient in most fragrances. But he’d also seen the careful way Noelle had looked at him.
She’d probably thought it was too plain compared to his other gifts. So, he decided not to make her
overthink and went all out.
An allergy could be easily treated, after all.
