Chapter 43
Soon, Sebastian had someone bring over a tablet containing the entire wedding design and planning
details.
Noelle carefully looked at the tablet’s content. She wanted to say that the Cole family could make all the decisions, but since Sebastian was showing her the details, she naturally had to look at them serioudy.
Sebastian was seated beside Noelle. As Noelle was busy looking at the tablet, he looked down at the
slight dip in the couch where they were sitting together.
Just then, a strand of hair fell loose by Noelle’s ear.
As if with practiced ease, Sebastian reached out and tucked it behind her ear. Then, he asked, “Are you
done looking? Do you have any opinions? The designer can change anything”
Noelle set the tablet down and shook her head. “I have no opinions. Everything looks great.”
After she finished speaking, the atmosphere fell silent again.
Noelle glanced up at the sky in the courtyard. The clouds seemed very low, and the sky had gone from its
initial colorful state to an oppressive dark mass.
Just then, a clap of jarring thunder came down in the middle of the silence. It startled Noelle, and her shoulders involuntarily trembled.
Sebastian keenly noticed her reaction and comforted her, saying, “It’s okay. It’s just thunder.”
But immediately after, another boom followed. This time, a flash of lightning also lit up the sky in the
distance.
Noelle couldn’t hold back and cried out in alarm.
She feared thunderstorms the most. As a child, she had gone to an amusement park with Patrick and
Mary, and that very day, there had been a thunderstorm like this when the three of them had gotten into a
car accident.
Patrick and Mary had lifted her out of the car, and she had been left alone holding her doll, crying in the thunderstorm. And although her parents had ended up being fine, this incident left a mark on Noelle’s
mind
Later on, on the day news came that Conner and Caleb’s plane had crashed, it had also been a thundering day like this.
Since then, Noelle had become completely traumatized by thunderstorms. Just one clap of thunder was enough to frighten her into a panic, and she’d always feel as if something particularly terrible was bound to happen.
In her panic, she didn’t even realize she had thrown herself into Sebastian’s arms.

Upon feeling Noelle’s warmth, Sebastian froze for a long moment before gently wrapping her against his chest. When he lowered his head, he could smell the special fragrance in Noelle’s hair–the faint, distinctive scent of gardenias.
Sebastian’s words of comfort came out somewhat awkwardly. “Everything’s fine… Don’t be scared…”
He had little experience comforting people, and his expression and demeanor at that moment were vastly different from his usual calm self. There was even a kind of endearing nervousness to it.
Meanwhile, Noelle had buried her head deep in his chest, covering her ears with both hands while her shoulders continued to tremble slightly.
Sebastian frowned as he looked at the gloomy sky outside. It was indeed heavy and suffocating. Just then, Noelle’s phone rang with an incoming call from Mary.
