In the past, Sabrina had brought up the same issue with Caleb more than once. However, he had never
shown the slightest interest in the company.
Nonetheless, he was still the best man she could have hoped to marry, so she wasn’t about to trade him
for someone less.
But who would’ve guessed that, in the end, everything would fall perfectly into place?
Now that her husband could not only inherit the company but was also dedicated to company affairs,
how could she not be delighted?
By the side, Yasmine directed the nurses in the hospital room to peel fruit. She then turned to Conner and
said in concern, “Leave the company matters to the other department managers to handle. You have too
many things to worry about right now. Put them all aside and just take care of Sabrina.”
But Conner replied, “Mom, the company has a lot going on right now. Sabrina has you here plus all these
doctors and nurses… Nothing will happen to her.”
Then, he looked at the thunderstorm outside the window.
In truth, at that moment, his mind was completely occupied with thoughts of Noelle.
Somehow, compared to staying in the hospital to care for Sabrina, he wanted more to go to the office and keep himself busy. After all, only by keeping himself busy could he temporarily forget Noelle.
Conner knew that Noelle really hated thunderstorms. Whenever there was thunder and rain, she would
shut the door tight, pull the curtains close, and tremble all over.
He had to go find her!
As soon as that thought appeared, Conner could no longer force himself to sit still in the hospital room.
At that moment, Sabrina was still complaining to Yasmine about her grievances. “I’d brought a wedding gift for Noelle, but not only did she reject it, she’d even shoved me despite knowing my pregnancy is
unstable.”
Yasmine snorted in disdain. “I’ve already gotten revenge for you on this matter. Don’t let it bother you. It’s not worth spoiling your mood.”
Sabrina continued, “I heard she sent my gift right back. What is that supposed to mean? Is she looking down on my gift, or is she looking down on the Ashford family?” She deliberately glanced at Conner.
However, Conner had other things on his mind and hurriedly stood up. “Mom, stay here with Sabrina. I just remembered there’s a document at the company I haven’t signed yet, and my assistant is pressing me for
it.”

Yasmine was obviously displeased. “Which assistant dared to pressure you?”
Conner didn’t explain much and was about to turn around when Sabrina grabbed his wrist. “Honey, aren’t you going to stay with me tonight?”
Upon looking at Sabrina’s pitiful appearance, Conner wavered somewhat.
Even so, he would much rather go find Noelle. He lowered his head and kissed Sabrina’s forehead. “I’ll definitely come back tonight. Be good and wait for me to finish the company business.”
Only then did Sabrina reluctantly let go of Conner’s hand. She also kissed his lips and replied, “Then I’ll
wait for you to come back.”
After Conner left, Yasmine looked around and asked in a roundabout way, “Sabrina, you haven’t heard any
rumors lately, have you?”
Sabrina hadn’t, but she did stay cautious. “What kind of rumors?”
Yasmine cleared her throat, her face wearing a mocking expression. “Just talk about how Conner didn’t
die and it was actually Caleb who’d died. That kind of nonsense…
Sabrina found this ridiculous. “People these days really have nothing better to do than spread these
rumors.
“It’s completely illogical! If Caleb had died, then who was that just now? Ugh, let’s not even talk about
death. It’s bad luck!”
Upon seeing Sabrina’s reaction, Yasmine was relieved.
So what if Noelle knew the truth? There was no way she could prove it, and no one would believe her
either.
