Chapter 51
Rain poured down over Sebastian, flattening his hair and soaking it through. Even so, it did nothing to dull the striking sharpness of his features. Droplets slid from his hair, tracing the line of his cheekbones before disappearing into the collar of his white shirt.
His eyes still carried the disdain of someone in power as he growled, “First, I don’t care who you are… I have ways to make you shut up. Second, are you really Caleb, or are you…”
He didn’t finish his sentence.
Earlier, there had been gossip circulating in their social circle out of nowhere claiming that Conner wasn’t dead, and that Caleb was the one who had died instead. Although such rumors were utterly ridiculous,
there was usually some truth behind it.
Sebastian narrowed his eyes as he studied the man in front of him. Based on his understanding of Caleb,
he was 99% certain that the person before him was indeed not him.
After all, Caleb wouldn’t cause such a scene on a stormy night like this, and he certainly wouldn’t care about who Noelle was going to marry.
At this thought, Sebastian unconsciously frowned, feeling a faint sense of unease rising in his heart.
Perhaps the darkness of the night gave Conner a sense of security about his identity, or maybe because it was just the two of them, he felt it didn’t matter.
He smiled confidently and replied, “I’m the man that Noelle cares about most. Right now I don’t have time to waste talking with you. I came here to see Noelle, not you. Where is she? Where are you hiding her?”
The man that Noelle cares about most? These words stung Sebastian deeply, and Conner’s proud, arrogant attitude hurt him just as much.
Conner had already assumed the posture of a victor, as if he only needed to confess his true identity to Noelle and she would abandon everything to leave with him.
Thunder crashed, illuminating a flash of disappointment on Sebastian’s profile. However, once the
thunder faded, Sebastian returned to his authoritative demeanor. “She said that she doesn’t want to see
you. If you dare bother her again, I’ll make sure you leave on crutches.”
After he delivered the ultimatum, Sebastian turned and headed back toward the estate. Conner quickly
grabbed his arm, but the Cole family had plenty of men who were even quicker than he was.
Bodyguards immediately rushed out and restrained Conner.
Sebastian turned to look at Conner, eyeing him without saying a word. Then, he continued walking toward

Barret, who had been waiting nearby, quickly stepped forward to hold an umbrella over Sebastian and quietly asked, “Mr Cole, are you alright? Do you need me to call a doctor?
Sebastian waved his hand dismissively. “No need.”
Conner watched Sebastian’s retreating figure while struggling and shouting, “Who the hell are you anyway? Stop pretending! If you’ve got the guts, let me see Noelle! Stop hiding her!”

Sebastian’s expression grew darker, and Barret caught it. With a subtle nod, he signaled the bodyguards
to drag the loudmouthed man away.
In the dark bedroom, Noelle, who had been dozing lightly, suddenly felt dampness in the air and the faint dripping of water. She opened her eyes, squinting to see clearly in the dim light.
It was Sebastian, quietly searching through the bedroom closet.
Noelle got up and turned on the light, still drowsy from sleep. “Mr. Cole, what are you looking for? Why aren’t you searching with the lights on?”
With the lights on, Noelle could see everything clearly. Sebastian was soaked through, his white dress shirt clinging tightly to his body and outlining his perfectly muscular curves. His defined abs and the tantalizing V–line that disappeared below.
Just one glance was enough to send her heart racing.
