“Have you completely lost your shame, Noelle? He’s my husband. What makes you think you can be that
close to him?” Sabrina cried out.
A cold smirk crept onto Noelle’s lips as she watched Sabrina lose her temper. She thought about how Sabrina was already losing it when things were just getting started. It seemed that she had finally found a
way to fight back, using Sabrina’s own tactics against her.
She imitated Sabrina’s usual act and looked up at Conner with a wounded expression. “I just said I’d feel
safer if you take me home. Why would Sabrina call me shameless for that?”
Her tone was laced with an artificial sweetness.
Conner glared at Sabrina and said, “Stop making a scene, Sabrina. It’s late. Go get some rest. I’m just
taking Noelle home. You don’t have to act like it’s the end of the world.”
Sabrina’s eyes burned red with anger, and she looked like she was about to rip Noelle apart. She wondered when Noelle had learned to act all soft and pitiful. She actually had the nerve to play innocent and stir things up between her and Conner.
Sabrina couldn’t swallow that insult. In her mind, she had always come out on top in their battles, so this moment was completely unacceptable.
She played her trump card. “Caleb, my stomach… it hurts so much!”
Noelle watched coldly as Sabrina shifted from fierce to soft, then suddenly clutched her stomach in pain.
It was impressive. Truly a performance worth applauding. It’s just that the same old trick had been used too many times, and it was starting to lose its effect.
Conner called over a housekeeper. “Take care of her.”
Then, he added with clear frustration, “The doctor told you to stay in the hospital and rest, but you refused to listen and had to act out. If anything happens to you, you’ll have no one to blame but yourself.”
After hearing what Conner said, Sabrina wasn’t sure whether she should keep pretending to be in pain or drop the act. Even her face couldn’t figure out what emotion to settle on.
Noelle thought to herself that even the oil painting in her hands wasn’t half as expressive as Sabrina’s face.
Still, it wasn’t enough. She copied the way Sabrina always acted, looking at Conner with a guilty and soft expression. “I’m sorry. It’s my fault Sabrina’s not feeling well. Maybe you shouldn’t see me home. I can manage on my own. It’s a little inconvenient, but it’s fine.”
Her tone was gentle and apologetic. It was a move made to seem considerate, but the glint of
amusement at the corner of her eye was aimed straight at Sabrina. It was a smile that Sabrina had always shown her–the smile of a winner.

Conner took a deep breath, his voice firm and resolute. “Noelle, stop apologizing. This isn’t something you should be sorry for. Of course I’ll take you home. If anything happened to you on the way back, I’d have to live with that guilt for the rest of my life.”
His words nearly made Noelle gag, but she still had to pretend she appreciated them. She looked straight into his eyes and said gently, “You’re so kind.”
Those simple words were enough to make Sabrina collapse in anger.
There were two housekeepers standing beside her, yet they still couldn’t catch her in time.
Sabrina, now sprawled on the floor, reached out a hand in Conner’s direction. “Conner, I swear… It really
hurts. It hurts so bad.”
Conner immediately made a decision. “Take her to the hospital. From now on, she stays there and rests. Don’t let her come back to the Ashford residence again.”
As soon as he finished speaking, he carried the painting and walked straight to the garage without looking back.
