Chapter 84
Noelle’s sudden cry startled Conner, and he finally realized something was wrong.
He glanced down and saw the phone on the passenger seat lit up. “Who are you calling?”
Conner’s face tensed as he reached for Noelle’s phone.
Just then, the car door was struck with a thunderous bang. He was so flustered that the phone nearly slipped from his hand. He looked up and saw the same man he had encountered outside the villa that day.
Noelle heard the loud banging too. She shifted her gaze, and the moment she saw Sebastian, a wave of relief surged through her chest.
Conner clenched his jaw, his face twisted with frustration over having his plans ruined.
The car doors were still locked, so Conner thought that since things had already reached this point, he might as well see it through to the end tonight.
He wanted to drive off, take her somewhere else where no one could bother them, and then tonight
Noelle would be his.
But as soon as he started the car, the sound of the engine alerted Sebastian, and he instantly realized
what Conner was trying to do.
In that split second, Sebastian didn’t have time to think. He rushed to the front of the car and threw
himself in Conner’s way.
Conner slammed on the brakes, but the momentum still sent the hood bumping into Sebastian’s knee.
He ignored the pain, planted both hands on the scorching hood, and glared through the windshield directly at Conner inside the car.
Conner could barely breathe under that terrifying glare. A surge of fear began racing through his mind.
Sebastian’s unwavering gaze seemed to declare that if Conner wanted to take Noelle, he would have to
drive over his dead body first.
Conner was intimidated by the intensity of his presence, so he took a deep breath and unlocked the car
doors.
However, Sebastian still didn’t move. He stood his ground, blocking the front of the car. He wouldn’t move unless Conner personally brought Noelle out of the car.
Conner seemed to understand what Sebastian was trying to say. He slammed the steering wheel in frustration, muttered a curse, then climbed out of the car and pulled open the passenger door himself.
It was only then that Sebastian rushed forward and took Noelle from him.
Breathing in the fresh air outside, Noelle’s mind cleared up. Once she realized she was safe, she went

limp in Sebastian’s arms. A deep wave of lingering fear washed over her.

She was relieved that it was Sebastian who picked up the call, but she wondered how he had gotten to the Spencer residence so quickly.
Sebastian held Noelle tightly as his sharp gaze fixed on Conner. “How could you do something this disgusting? Do you even have a conscience?”
Conner scrambled over to the driver’s side door, still trying to defend himself. “What disgusting thing? I didn’t do anything. I just brought her back!”
Noelle suddenly remembered something important in the back seat. She stood on her tiptoes and leaned close to Sebastian’s ear. “The painting. The oil painting in the back seat.”
Sebastian held her with one arm and used the other to yank the back door open so hard it looked like he might rip it right off.
He bent down and took the painting out with one hand. The muscles in his arm pressed against Noelle.
Once he had what she wanted, he slammed the door shut with a resounding bang. “Get lost!”
Conner slipped away, humiliated and defeated.
