Mary’s face lit up with delight when she saw Sebastian arrive, and she hurried to her feet to welcome him. “Oh my, why didn’t you call ahead? I could’ve prepared more dishes for
you.”
Sebastian lifted the white paper bag in his hand. “The wedding dress just arrived from Iridale. I wanted Noelle to try it on and see if it fits. I sent her a message, but she was probably busy
and didn’t see it.”
Caroline glared at the paper bag in Sebastian’s hand, and her gaze fixed on the logo. She could hardly believe her eyes and even rubbed them just to make sure she was not seeing things.
It was a brand from an independent Iridale designer. It was a label that specialized in wedding dresses. It was so expensive that most people had never even heard of it.
What shocked them wasn’t just the brand of the wedding dress, but also Sebastian himself.
Rumor had it Noelle had remarried an old man, someone with a few connections in the business world, and the Spencer family had married her off to settle Patrick’s troubles.
Yet the man standing before them was nothing like an old man. On the contrary, he was strikingly handsome and poised, exuding an air of refinement that could never be faked.
Noelle was slightly taken aback. She picked up her phone and saw that Sebastian had sent her a message half an hour ago. With her relatives around, she really wasn’t in the mood to check
any messages.
She stood up and took the dress from him. Then she asked softly, “I’ll try it on later. Do you want to stay for dinner?”
Sebastian readily agreed. “Perfect timing. Looks like I’m in for a good meal today.”
As soon as he finished speaking, he made his way over to the seat beside Noelle. Next to her was Caroline, who sat beside Kenneth, Millie, and Donald.
He stood there for about three seconds, a hint of displeasure flickering across his face. His gaze shifted slowly from Caroline to Donald. “Should I say she is the one being rude, or you?”
His words were aimed at Caroline and Donald. “Don’t you know how to make some room?”
Donald froze for a moment, then almost instinctively shifted over. Millie and Kenneth moved along as well, leaving only Caroline still in place.
Sebastian tilted his head and arched a brow. “How did the Spencer family end up with such a tactless daughter–in–law? Are you waiting for someone to carry you off?”
His cutting words left Caroline, who barely had the strength to fight back, completely speechless.
Only Millie, whose temper was a bit stronger, reacted first. She first told Caroline to move

over, then looked at Sebastian with mild displeasure.

She said, “So, you’re the man Noelle married in her second marriage? Who the Spencer family chooses as a daughter–in–law isn’t something for someone like you to comment on. Seems like you’re made for each other–Noelle’s got no manners, and neither do you.”
Noelle grew a bit worried. It was one thing for them to insult her, but now they actually dared to speak to Sebastian like that.
Sebastian was usually so refined, which made her worry he might silently endure their disrespect.
But what Sebastian said next made her realize she had been worrying for nothing.
Sebastian first sat down, instinctively inching closer to Noelle as if being too close to Caroline made him uncomfortable. In a way, that gesture was already a silent display of disdain.
