Forever 25

Chapter 25

The day Lynette was released, a heavy rainstorm drenched Jenvil. She stood outside the prison gates, tilting her head toward the gray sky as the rain streamed down her face.

On her phone, she scrolled furiously through updates about Jasmine, seeing photo after photo of her and Sebastian attending events together.

Lynette was so jealous that she felt like she might lose her mind.

“Jasmine, I’m back. Did you think I’d let you live happily? Because of you, I lost the luxurious life I

dreamed of!”

Prison life had left her once-refined features pale and gaunt. However, the hatred in her eyes still burned

brightly.

Jasmine stood on the lawn of Sunshine Orphanage, smiling as she watched the children play. Since marrying Sebastian, she had devoted more energy to charity work, sponsoring many orphans and underprivileged children.

Charles approached and handed her a document. He reported, “Ms. Lane, the schedule for next week’s charity gala has been confirmed.”

Jasmine took the document. As she reviewed it, Charles hesitated before adding quietly, “There’s one more thing… Lynette was released from prison today.”

Her fingers paused briefly on the page, but she quickly composed herself. “Got it.”

She wasn’t afraid of Lynette. Then again, she knew how unhinged Lynette could be, so there was no way

she would lower her guard.

That evening, Jasmine had just returned home when her phone rang. Timothy’s name appeared on the

caller ID.

She was momentarily stunned. Ever since her wedding, aside from unavoidable work communications, they’d had no private contact. She pressed to answer the call, after which Timothy’s deep voice came

through the phone.

“Lynette’s out of prison.”

Jasmine stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, gazing at the night outside. She replied calmly, “I know.”

“Why are you so calm? She won’t let you go.” Timothy was frustrated, irritably rubbing his forehead. Before she went to prison, she swore she’d get revenge.”

”

Jasmine was silent for a moment. Then, she commented flatly, “Timothy, there’s nothing between us

anymore. My life is no longer your concern.”

Timothy remained silent for a long time. Then, he let out a cold laugh. “Did you think I wanted to be involved? We did have something once, sure. I just don’t want something to happen to you.”

Jasmine caught a faint hitch in his breathing, indicating his uncontrolled sobs.

Just as she was about to reply, he hung up directly.

Across the street from Jasmine’s office, Matthew sat in a corner of a cafe. His eyes were fixed on the light glowing from her window. Since the wedding, he hadn’t appeared in front of her again.

However, he was never truly gone, watching over her quietly all along.

His assistant, Danny, approached, whispering, “Mr. Jackman, Lynette was released from prison today. Our people found that she went to an apartment in Brightvale.”

Matthew’s expression turned cold. “Keep a close watch on her.”
