Chapter 26
In the pitch-black darkness, Lynette sat on the apartment couch with a pile of photos spread before her. They were all recent pictures of Jasmine.
She picked up one of them, her fingertips gently caressing Jasmine’s face with a sinister smile.
She hissed, “Jasmine, did you think that it would be over after all these years? Especially after you framed me and sent me to prison?”
After standing up, she walked to the bathroom, retrieving a sealed glass bottle containing concentrated sulfuric acid from the cabinet. Then, she carefully dripped a drop of acid onto the photo.
Watching Jasmine’s face on the picture corrode and darken as it spread, Lynette burst into maniacal laughter. “This time, I’ll make you wish you were dead.”

A week later, the charity gala at Sunshine Orphanage went ahead as planned.
Jasmine, dressed in an elegant gown, stood on stage delivering her speech. The seats below were full,
and Sebastian sat in the front row, his gaze soft and full of pride for his beloved wife.
Just as Jasmine was preparing to leave the stage, Lynette suddenly rushed forward, screaming,”
Jasmine! Go to hell!”
Then, she pulled off the bottle cap and splashed the contents toward Jasmine’s face.
The sharp, acrid smell mixed with Lynette’s piercing shrieks threw everyone into panic. In that split second, a figure suddenly charged onto the stage and blocked Jasmine.
It was Matthew!
The sulfuric acid splashed onto Matthew’s face, instantly corroding his skin as the excruciating pain
caused him to collapse. The scene erupted into chaos as security immediately rushed up to restrain
Lynette.
Jasmine stood frozen, her heart nearly stopping as she stared at Matthew curling up in pain.
She shrieked, “Matthew!”
After the ambulance arrived with wailing sirens, the paramedics quickly lifted Matthew onto a stretcher.
Jasmine was about to follow when someone grabbed her wrist.
“You can’t go,” Timothy commented grimly.
She yanked her hand free, snapping, “Let go of me!”
Timothy’s gaze was ice-cold. “My people just reported that Lynette escaped. She’s targeting you. If you

head to the hospital now, you’ll only complicate things.”
He turned to Sebastian, suggesting, “Take her away. I’ll handle the situation at the hospital.”
Sebastian held his eyes for a long moment before nodding. He wrapped an arm around Jasmine’s shoulders and said, “Let’s go home first.”
