As I was about to block the number, he quickly sent me a text.
Clearly knowing that the soft approach wasn’t working, he resorted to threats. “Yvonne, how dare you block my number and avoid me! If you don’t cut it out, I will stop seeing you from now on! Unblock my number right now, and I’ll forgive you just this once!”
I read the text and blocked his new number.
A few moments later, I received a message request on Facebook, sent by a user with no profile picture.
This time, having learned my lesson, I did not accept the request. I blocked and reported the user right away.
After all that, I finally settled down and got a rare good night’s sleep.
The next morning, I was woken up by my phone ringing.
It was a call from my coworker, Kate Carson. “Yvonne, why did you resign so abruptly? You didn’t even say goodbye. We would’ve thrown you a farewell party!”
“I’m fine. Something personal came up, so I had to leave in a hurry,” I replied.

“When he heard that you had resigned last night, he stormed out without signing the contract, saying that he would only sign with you personally! Mr. Green will probably call you soon.”
Sure enough, Adrian’s call came in just as Kate finished speaking.
I knew Nathan well enough to know that he would definitely pull such a stunt. He was using the partnership to pressure me into talking to him, but I had already resigned–whether he signed the contract or not had nothing to do with me.
1 rejected the call, put my phone on silent, and went right back to sleep.
When I woke up again, my phone’s screen was cluttered with numerous missed calls and messages. Even my social media accounts had hundreds of unread notifications.
