“Charlie, wait. I can explain.” Before Zara could continue, Charlie had already grabbed hold of her throat.
With a sharp smack, she fell to the ground weakly.
“Zara! How could you do this to the kids? You’re their biological mother!”
She covered her face as she sobbed weakly. She tried to argue and said, “Charlie, that’s not what
happened. They wouldn’t listen to me! I was just disciplining them.”
“Discipline?” Charlie scoffed coldly. “You don’t deserve to lay a finger on my kids!”
Their family doctor finally made it. Zara sensed that she was about to get in trouble and tried to stop him
from approaching Zachary.
Charlie swiftly kicked her away.
Their family doctor carefully lifted Zachary’s shirt and inhaled sharply at the sight.
His tiny torso was littered with bruised pinch marks and scars. It was a harrowing sight.
Zara remained on the floor as her face went pale. Her teeth chattered from fear as she stammered out,
Ch-Charlie, it was a mistake, I swear…”
“Guards,” Charlie said in a voice as cold as ice. “Lock her in the seclusion room. Make sure she regrets
everything.”
Once Zara’s screams vanished at the end of the corridor, Rachel gently tugged at Charlie’s shirt sleeve
and choked out, “Dad, I miss Mom.”
Charlie picked Rachel up, feeling like his heart was being crushed into pieces.
He never thought Zara could do such things to her own children.
Suddenly, he thought of how Yasmine had looked at him when he left.
Her mild stare was tinged with resentment.
His hands shook as he called Alex. “Help me look into some things.”
When Alex showed up in the study room with an envelope full of evidence, Charlie ran toward him.
“I hope you’re prepared,” Alex said hesitatingly as he passed Charlie the envelope.
Charlie took a deep breath and opened the envelope.
His face grew paler with every page he read.
The first page was about how Zara had hired hackers. Those private photos shown at the fundraising

event were now on full display in front of him.
His tight grip left creases under his fingertips.
Right after that, Alex showed him a video.
It was security camera footage of what happened that day at the hot springs resort. It clearly showed Zara dragging Yasmine into the water.
The next clip featured the truth behind how the twins had fallen down the stairs.

Charlie watched as they punched and kicked at Yasmine on the screen before running away and falling
down the stairs.
He then watched a clip of them smiling as they tossed pig remains all over Yasmine and pushed her onto
the stairs.
The screen cracked from how tightly he was gripping the phone, and his heart cracked along with it.
“Bring Zara to me,” he said as he clenched his fists so hard that his knuckles turned white.
“Charlie, you’ve forgiven me, right?” Zara immediately broke free from the bodyguards’ grip on her once Charlie entered the room. She collapsed at his feet and begged, “I gave birth to your kids. You won’t hurt me, right?”
Her voice sounded choked, and her gaze was full of regret.
“I’ll be a good mother from now on. Please-”
“From now on?” Charlie said as he stood up abruptly, causing the chair to screech loudly against the floor.
He tossed the evidence against Zara’s face.
She remained motionless on the ground as her face grew as pale as a piece of paper.
“Dad!” Zachary entered the room. He was crying, but even that still sounded weak. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t
have treated Mom like that.”
Rachel followed him into the room. She was crying so hard that her shoulders kept shaking. “Dad, let’s go back to Mom, okay?”
Zara suddenly scoffed. “You’ll never find her! She already divorced your dad!”
