Chapter 89
While Nathan was driving toward the hillside villa, Amelia was looking at the trending news on her
phone.
“Will this cause problems?” Louie asked worriedly..
He wasn’t too concerned for himself as CEO of an entertainment company, he’d had plenty of these kinds of scandals, and since he was single, he wasn’t scared.
But society held women to higher standards when it came to chastity. This kind of gossip would be bad for Amelia’s reputation.
Even though they both knew there was nothing between them.
Well, not nothing… his feelings for her weren’t exactly pure.
But Louie was a man with boundaries. He hadn’t done anything that would cause misunderstandings.
Whether at the hospital, Cavendish Entertainment, or at dinner–everything stayed within work and friendship boundaries.
Beside him, Amelia shook her head.
“It’s nothing. I’ll just put out a statement,” Amelia said, typing on her phone.
“Besides…” Amelia’s eyes were completely calm. Compared to her mutually beneficial working relationship with Louie, Nathan and Vivian were the ones who…
But Amelia didn’t want to get into that, so she paused and said, “In a few days, Nathan and I will be getting our divorce certificate. None of this will matter.
Nathan had called her many times and sent tons of messages.
She knew, which was why she’d blocked or muted him ages ago.
The only reason she hadn’t deleted or blacklisted him completely was because they still needed to get the divorce certificate, and after everything was settled, they’d need to communicate about getting back her father’s assets.
Amelia didn’t want to completely piss off Nathan before they got divorced.

Better to keep a low profile until the papers were signed.
With that thought, Amelia continued editing her statement.
Louie studied Amelia’s profile. He hesitated, then finally spoke up.
“What if he changes his mind?” Louie said. “During the waiting period, if either party changes their mind, the divorce doesn’t go through.”
Amelia double–checked her content one last time and fit publish.
“He won’t,” Amelia said, looking out at the scenery flying past the car window.
“Vivian only has six months left. If he wants to be with her, he has to divorce me.”
Outside the window, someone’s wedding had left red confetti scattered all over the ground.
Thinking about it, they’d only been married for a year.
That hasty but grand wedding from a year ago still felt vivid.
All of New York draped in red, white roses everywhere
Her priceless wedding dress.
He’d prepared it all for her. Even though the rush meant it couldn’t be perfect, he’d done the best he
could at the time.
She remembered him carrying her out of the house, making vows to love her for the rest of his life.
She remembered that his eyes had definitely held some affection for her back then.
But it had only been a year…
Not even a full year.
In their marriage, he’d been the first to stray.
Whatever.
Amelia looked away.
Seven years–admitting you loved the wrong person might be hard, but once she’d seen clearly, she

wouldn’t look back.
Amelia smiled at Louie beside her. “Besides, I’ve been keeping evidence all along. Even if he changes his
mind, I can file for divorce.”
Louie looked at the smile on Amelia’s face and nodded helplessly.
She was always like this–strong in a way that broke your heart.
Meanwhile
The Aston Martin was heading toward the hillside villa
On the way, Nathan’s phone buzzed.
While waiting at a red light, he glanced at it—a special notification that Amelia had posted something new.
Nathan clicked it.
Amelia: Recent online rumors about Louie Cavendish and me are completely false. Louie and I have been friends for years. I was signed to Cavendish Entertainment, and all our interactions fall within normal work and friendship boundaries, nothing more. Today’s dinner included other people–it wasn’t just the two of us with a child. I ask all media to stop spreading rumors.
The light turned green.
Nathan closed the page and kept driving.
This statement was still lightweight–it wouldn’t convince the media, and it wouldn’t convince him either.
His anger wasn’t subsiding.
She’d been acting really strange lately.
He needed to ask her about it.
His mind flashed again to that scene at Moonlight Manor when she’d cried and rejected him.
Had she refused him because she had someone new?
She used to really enjoy it.
Many times when she was exhausted, she’d still go along with it if he coaxed her a little.

She’d never refused him before.
Except for last time.
Was it because of Louie or Caspian?
Or someone else?
Nathan gripped the steering wheel tighter.
The Aston Martin pulled up to the hillside villa.
Nathan parked and walked straight through the front door.
But the moment he stepped inside, he noticed again that the house was pitch black.
Even the little entryway light wasn’t on.
Nathan frowned slightly. The last time he’d come here, it had been the same–no lights on anywhere.
Click!
He flipped on all the lights. The house lit up, but it was dead silent.
Something was very wrong.
Last time he’d come to get supplements for Grandfather, the feeling hadn’t been as obvious, but this time….
Nathan pressed his lips together as he walked to the bedroom.
No sign of Amelia in the master bedroom.
In fact, no sign that anyone had lived here recently.
Nathan’s frown deepened.
Had she moved out of the master bedroom?
With that thought, Nathan went to check the other rooms.
The three–story villa–Nathan opened every single room door, but there was no trace of anyone living
there.
Unwilling to accept it, Nathan went to the bathroom, but there too, only his stuff remained.

The two toothbrushes that used to sit side by side–now only his sat there alone and pathetic.
She wasn’t here.
Even though he didn’t want to admit it, he had to face reality.
Nathan returned to the master bedroom and stared at the empty half of the closet.
This used to be packed with both their clothes.
Half his, half hers.
But now only his suits hung there, looking cold and lifeless.
From all the signs in the house, she’d moved out a long time ago.
But before this, except for business trips, visits to Moonlight Manor, and staying with him, she’d always come back here.
She’d told him that after her father died, she had no home.
Her mother had dragged her from place to place, and later when her stepfather came into the picture, everything got worse.
Even after her stepfather left, her relationship with her mother never recovered.
She’d said this place was her home, and even when he was busy, she’d take good care of it.
She’d said she’d wait for him to come home, no matter how late.
Over the past year, this place had been filled with things she’d carefully chosen and arranged. Every time he came back, he’d felt warm and at peace.
But now all her things were gone.
This house only had his stuff left–empty and cold.
His clenched fists trembled slightly.
An indescribable pain spread from Nathan’s heart to his fingertips.
Had she really left?
