“Pointless,” Sierra said calmly. “If it happened once, it’ll happen again.”
“What we need to do is cut it off at the root.”
Chase couldn’t help but glance at Sierra in surprise. He hadn’t expected her to stay this composed in such
tense situation.
Truth be told, even he was rattled. Yet Sierra was still analyzing everything with sharp clarity.
The more he interacted with her, the more he agreed with his son’s choice. She really was impressive.
“So how do we cut it off at the root?” Jose asked this time, his gaze carrying a hint of admiration for his sister–in–law.
Sierra rubbed her forehead and said, “We make them think twice before touching Professor Yaeger.
They needed a deterrent strong enough to keep those people in check. The group discussed strategies deep into the night before finally dispersing around dawn.
Chase was just reminded that Sierra was still pregnant. Concerned, he said, “We’ve decided what to do. You should rest now. I’ll take care of the rest.”
He felt like a failure as a father. His son was in danger, and it was his pregnant daughter–in–law carrying the weight instead of him.
“Thank you,” Sierra replied.
Her words stung a little, but he said nothing. Just being able to help them was enough.
Once everyone left, Sierra finally collapsed into, bed, exhausted. With no familiar arms around her, she couldn’t help hugging Jonathan’s pillow tightly/ It still smelled like him.
“Professor Yaeger, you better come back to me.”
Ever since Shane visited, Jonathan had become hyper–alert, especially with anything brought in from outside.
Everything he received was delivered separately. He hadn’t eaten in two meals, but that couldn’t go on. After thinking it over, he finally spoke./
“I don’t like the food here. I want meals from my family’s chef.”
Even with his special status, this request was a bit much. One person immediately snapped back.
“You need to remember–you’re not at home here.”
Jonathan calmly adjusted his sleeve and replied coolly, “If I wanted to walk out of here, I could. I’m cooperating. If I stop, there’s no need for any of this.”
They all knew who he was. Even if they were annoyed, no one dared go too far. In the end, they had to report it to their superiors.

With everything spiraling. Stone naturally heard about the situation. It wasn’t hard to guess what was going on. He immediately came up with a way to be the one delivering the food himself
It wasn’t easy. His status made things complicated, and he had to work hard just to get assigned. In the end, it was Mr. Homer who pulled strings to make it happen.
“Sorry, Grandpa,” Stone said with his head bowed.
He knew his grandfather didn’t want him involved, but there was no other choice.
Even with their own chef, anything could still happen during delivery.
“This is what it means to be a Haynes,” Mr. Homer said. “Some people have gone insane. They don’t care about the country anymore.”
Bargaining with madmen–what good could ever come from that?
When Stone saw Jonathan, he was visibly startled. “You haven’t slept?”
He quickly handed him a bottle of water.
Anything from Stone, Jonathan trusted. After downing it in one go, he finally looked at him.
“What are you doing here?”
“Bringing you food.”
Stone set the meal down in front of him. “Eat up.”
Jonathan hadn’t eaten in two days, but he didn’t dive in. He stared at Stone for a moment before finally saying, “This time is different.”
If anything happened to him, Stone would be dragged down too–likely made into a scapegoat. The entire Haynes family could suffer for it.
“You’re being reckless.”
Jonathan frowned.
This wasn’t like before. Even he didn’t have complete confidence this time.
“My grandpa gave the go–ahead. You think I could’ve gotten this job otherwise?”
Stone didn’t wait for a reply before adding, “Don’t get too emotional. Just remember to give me more shares when this is over.”
